As a global business, we have global responsibilities. Whether donating cargo and tickets, volunteer hours, or inflight blankets, we are committed to providing help where it’s needed the most, and strengthening the communities in which we operate around the world.

Engaging communities

Etihad has a long tradition of supporting charities across our network. We frequently donate in kind support and cash to causes that matter to our communities. Focusing our assistance in Abu Dhabi, the Group has a long-standing partnership with the Emirates Red Crescent and many other humanitarian and development organisations working locally and internationally.

As well as charities, we regularly engage with other local businesses and the government on responsible business practices and sustainability. This helps us to make sure that all initiatives are relevant to the needs and expectations of the local community, and are in line with best practices. Our Code of Ethical Purchasing and Supply outlines requirements for vendors to conduct their business in a responsible way, and we are a committed member of the United Nations Global Compact, a voluntary initiative to integrate sustainability principles.

Engaging staff

We encourage our staff to  share their time, skills and knowledge with those in need. Corporate initiatives such as fundraisers and volunteering trips are organised frequently, and staff are also encouraged to give back independently, donating thousands of hours each year serving their communities.

The Sustainability Advisory Board, meets on a quarterly basis to oversee the implementation of sustainability initiatives, review progress and make adjustments as necessary. At each meeting, the Board focuses on specific topics driven by a combination of external factors and the Group’s requirements.

Engaging guests

We know our guests care about giving back. That’s why we try to make it easy for them to take part in our intiatives.

In the air, we let our guests know about important social causes through features on the inflight entertainment system and in our inflight magazines. We also offer a range of socially responsible and charity products in Duty Free.

On the ground, the loyalty miles donation programme offers Etihad Guest members an easy way to support important causes that matter to them. Whether miles were earned from buying a flight with Etihad Airways, or using a co-branded credit card for their purchases, Etihad Guest members have donated over 200 million loyalty miles to dozens of charities since the programme began in 2007 – the equivalent to 7,722 trips around the world.
